About The Society For Constitutional Law Discussion
The Society For Constitutional Law Discussion (TSCLD) is a premier academic organisation dedicated to promoting scholarship and meaningful engagement in the field of constitutional law and allied areas.
TSCLD was initially established as a student-led society at Chanakya National Law University (CNLU), Patna, inspired by the constitutional law societies functioning in other leading National Law Universities across India. Founded by a former student of CNLU, the Society aimed to encourage rigorous academic dialogue and legal writing among students, scholars, and professionals interested in constitutional studies.
Over the years, TSCLD has grown from a campus-based initiative into one of India’s most prominent academic organisations in the domain of constitutional law. With a focus on accessibility, academic excellence, and institutional impact, the Society continues to expand its outreach and activities.
What We Do?
Today, our core initiatives include:
Publication: We run a well-regarded blog and an academic journal titled The Journal of Constitutional Studies, both of which feature analytical pieces on contemporary constitutional developments.
Competitions and Events: TSCLD regularly organises national-level events such as Public Interest Litigation (PIL) Drafting Competitions, Judgment Writing, Constitutional Drafting, and Legal Essay/Blog Writing Competitions. Our Annual National Seminar is considered the Society’s flagship event, attracting participation from across the country.
Academic Training and Career Guidance: We conduct workshops, lectures, and training sessions on relevant opportunities such as the LAMP Fellowship and other public law fellowships, providing valuable insights and mentorship to aspiring legal professionals.
Digital Education and Outreach: Our YouTube series, titled “ConstiLaw Simplified”, presents recent constitutional developments, landmark judgments, and key legal doctrines in a concise and easily understandable format, helping bridge the gap between academic legal discourse and public understanding.
TSCLD has been nationally recognised for its contribution to constitutional scholarship:
Our blog has been featured among the Top Constitutional Law Blogs in India by Feedspot.
APAC Insider magazine has acknowledged TSCLD as one of the most impactful initiatives in the field of constitutional law.
Through these ongoing efforts, TSCLD remains committed to nurturing informed debate, critical analysis, and sustained academic engagement in constitutional law and its evolving dimensions.
